Front tire balancing and new PR4 GT

Just had my 3rd set of PR4 GTs installed and had that familiar handlebar shake at 70-80kmh. Shop rebalanced the tire 3 times without any improvement. Static balancing. Finally on the 4th attempt they placed the weights on both sides of the rim rather than one side and that fixed all the shaking. I'm sharing this in case someone else runs into the same problem. Hard to believe that small change completely changed the feel of the bike. Much smoother at all speeds.

That is amazing find. Just shows there are a lot of forces operating at high RPM, centrifugal, centripetal, gravity; its all going on whilst we just sit back and enjoy the ride.
Thanks for sharing.

More useful info from a Trophy forum member. This bears keeping in the back of the mind in case a similar problem arises with another one.

Thought that was how mine were balanced, been and checked and weights opposite each other on the front rims. The place I take the wheels has a chap who does all the bike wheels so maybe its a knowledge and experience skill, he is also a biker.

FYI : on my 2016 young Trophy, with still factory tires, weights are on both side of the front rim. Did Hinckley read your post ?!
Cheers, Hugues
