Long weekend to Auto & Technic Museum Sinsheim

    Hello all,

I have for a long time wanted to visit the Auto & Technic Museum in Sinsheim, Germany.

This Car and Technology museum amazingly has both a Concorde and a Tupolev TU144 mounted on the roof of the museum as exhibits! :005: :005:

I am thinking probably a Thursday night Eurotunnel crossing overnight stay near the Eurotunnel terminal then a Friday ride down to the museum area either staying in Mannheim, Stuttgart or Heidelberg for the Friday, Saturday & Maybe Sunday night. Spend Saturday round the museum and then Sunday a ride round the local area before a ride home on the Monday for a Monday Night/evening return on the Eurotunnel.

Thinking this would be an ideal weekend for a group of us to ride from the UK and to hopefully meet up with some of our French and German Trophy mates at the museum.

I am thinking probably a weekend at tail end of May maybe early June.

Would anyone else be interested in such a weekend blast down through Belgium and Germany to have a bit of a social meet, do the museum and maybe a ride round on Sunday??

    All the best,

    Kevin

    Hi Kevin,

    sounds good.
Just a question of getting a day off or two.

Great to see some interest already.

I am thinking Heidelberg looks a good place to stay being older and scenic and just to the north of the museum. Close enough to ride to the museum on the day we visit but slightly closer to the Eurotunnel to make the too and fro legs more reasonable.

My first choice is maybe the weekend 19th to 22nd of May or possibly the weekend 26th to 29th May. Only problem with that weekend is its a Bank Holiday in the UK so may cost more on the Eurotunnel and also have more restricted travel times.

I have noticed too that the museum is open Sundays so it maybe a ride out locally on the Saturday when more other places might be open and then do the museum on the Sunday when many other places will be closed.

I have put in an inquiry too with hotels.com to see what prices we might be able to get for a block booking somewhere near the museum for the 3 nights.

More when I get anything back!

A nice and calm hotel on the outskirts of Heidelberg is
    http://en.isg-hotel.de/willkommen/index.html
I always stay there when I visit SAP in nearby Walldorf.
And if you want to visit an impressive small town: Speyer.
    Regards

Well I have had one response with regard to accommodation for the proposed weekend at the Marriott Heidelberg.

Probably a little upmarket and pricy as it is a 4 star and €139 a night... but its an indication and I'm sure I can get some better prices.
