Morning all, possible new owner UK

    Morning all
I'm looking at trading my 15 plate Explorer for a Trophy.
I've ridden the bike a couple of times so know how good it is to ride.

I'm looking at buying a 2nd hand bike and some have some decent mileage on them (hey at least they have been ridden) so what issues have current owners had especially with the miles on and any major issues with the electronic suspension with mileage and years.

Thanks for looking in and I may be on here more often if all goes to plan

Welcome. I have a 2013 model that had the issues with the satellite radio. Easily fixed with a software update.

I've to almost 30,000 miles on the bike and have had no significant issues with the bike. However I've found that occasionally I need to change the oil and get new tires every now and then.

Best of luck with your search.
My mother asked what I wanted to be when I grew up. I said "a biker". She said I'd have to choose one or the other.

Hi mjab and :400: to the Forum !

There have been relatively few reports of problems with the "TES" ( Triumph Electronic Suspension ).

There have been a couple of reports of the rear suspension linkage seizing / corroding,
although the Service Schedule only calls for checking and lubrication every 2 years / 20,00 miles.

Most other problems have, in the main, been addressed by Triumph with a few Modifications & Recalls,
and any Triumph Dealer will be able to advise whether these have been completed on any specific Trophy.
( Such Mod's and Recalls are supposed to be entered on Page 5 of the Owners Service Handbook,
when they are carried out, but often this administrative task is missed out ! ).

One Topic which does seem to be becoming more prevalent is that some early Trophy's had "tight" wiring
around the headstock area, noticeable when turning the handlebars to the right, that has resulted over time
in wires being pulled out of the connection to the Ignition switch, and sometimes the right hand switch cube.

To date Triumph have been excellent in sorting this problem out - even for owners whose warranty has expired,
and in some cases where the Ignition switch has had to be replaced, they have changed ALL of the locks,
so the owner still just has the one key for everything !  ( There have however been a couple of reports more recently
of Triumph denying such claims, and even commenting that this is NOT a "known issue" ! )

Bottom Line is that of you buy from a reputable Triumph Dealer you shouldn't go far wrong !  :028:

    Cheers  :821:

Had a similar issue when I had a Sprint 1050

Thanks for the replies guys. Looking at one of the ones on sale on here if I can sell my Tex or else it looks like being a 14 plate with 18000 miles on it from a stealer
