    Hi everyone!!

Hi Everybody!  I'm completely new here and know NOTHING about Triumph bikes.  I've been riding for almost 40 years and I'm contemplating buying my first Triumph ever! (Ironically it will also be the first time I've ever bought a NEW bike!) I've had numerous Japanese bikes, a Harley and Victory.  I've loved each of them for what they were.  Currently I've been without a bike for about 2 years, and was looking to buy a used Victory today when I was smitten by a new leftover 2016 Trophy. I decided to give myself 2 days to research it first before signing on the dotted line.  Any thoughts or concerns about the Triphy?  Anything I need to know about chronic issues? Thanks everybody!

Hi Matt and welcome... you are in the right place for info.

Not many problems and even fewer that have been serious and on a 2016 bike they will have been sorted anyway.

In the HOW TOS and technical section of the forum there are 3 sticky topics of common issues. Sounds a lot but it's just because they are very complete and logically laid out. You might want to have a scan there, but on the whole the only issue most of us have is not getting to ride this great bike enough! :400:

Thank you all for the warm welcome! Thank you also for directing me to the page with the known issues!

I didn't get to take a test ride yet as the bike wasn't prepped, but if the ride is 1/3 as nice as the look I'll be a happy man! The funny thing about me getting this bike is that my wife wanted either a Harley, Indian or Victory that she could be "comfortable" on.  I sent her a picture of the Trophy and she automatically used her veto power on it.  Well I couldn't get the deal that I wanted on the bike I went there to buy so I went home empty handed.  She saw that I came home with an empty trailer and suggested that we go to another dealer to look at a bike she found online, so we did. While there, they happened to have a '14 Trophy which I showed to her.  Her response was what I THOUGHT her response would have been to the original picture! ( I guess my photography skills are somewhat lacking!). Then she sat on the back.  Her desire for a cruiser disappeared immediately!  The price of that used Trophy was higher than the other dealership was asking for their new one, so we headed back to the original dealership and tried to act nonchalant while drooling over it!

.... if the ride is 1/3 as nice as the look I'll be a happy man!

When you first climb on and lift it up off the side stand it will feel very heavy,
and it IS quite Top Heavy - so be ready for that - watch out for gravel
or anything else that could lose your footing - to avoid dropping it !

Once underway though you will be amazed how light it feels,
and I can virtually guarantee that you will be way, way more than 1/3 happy !

    Cheers  :821:

Yes... that is definitely good advice.... be very cautious until you get used to it at slow speed on bad surfaces... avoid that front brake like the plague... But once you get used to it you won't have any problem... and as coconut says... once moving it becomes so light and flickable you will love it!
