    I tested my Trophy on the power bench. The results are astonishing: 122 cv and 109 Nm that Triumph announces 134 cv and 120 Nm. Does anyone have any information about it?

    Most manufacturers test HP/Torque at the crank, you get will lower numbers at the wheel.

    Is it brand new?  Broken in?  Proper weight oil?
    Is the tune where it should be?  Butterfies balanced?
    Were those numbers corrected for temp and altitude?

    Some things that can affect the power delivered.

    I'd be very surprised if anyone managed to replicate the manufacturers figures.

    A bit like the published MPG figures for fuel economy !

    Like OhioWinger was saying most vehicle manufacturers take their readings at the crankshaft where they get the highest readings. The Trophy uses shaft drive which is very nice for a touring bike and is almost maintenance free, BUT shaft drive is also the least efficient method of transferring power to the rear wheel. Reason being is all of the friction due to the transmission gears and the changes in direction via bevel gears at the engine and rear drive. Weight is also a big factor in power loss with a shaft system. It all adds up and will show some pretty dramatic power losses from crank to rear wheel. Good old chain drive, which has been around a long time is still the lightest and most efficient system for transferring power to the rear wheel. Belt drive falls in the middle. While the actual belt may be lighter than a chain the sprockets and supporting mechanism is heavier plus the friction caused by belt tension makes this system less efficient than a chain drive, but still more efficient than a shaft. I never put much faith in factory numbers. They always get more power from a bike than I do, they always manage to get more fuel in the tank than I can, and they always manage to have a lighter weight bike than the one I buy even though it is the same bike  :027:
