R&G Adventure Bars Highway Peg Mount

I wanted to write a post detailing how I came up with another way to mount highway pegs to my R&G Adventure bars. I felt that everything I had seen previously put the riders feet too high up to be comfortable for longer periods of time. I needed something that angled downwards. While at a bike meet I stumbled upon a Yamaha Tenere with highway pegs that looked perfect. When I located the owner and asked for the brand he told me they were manufactured by a company called Moto Werk out in California.

So I popped onto their website and found the highway pegs I needed - https://motowerk.com/products/highwaypegmounts1inchdia only to realize that they only work on 1” diameter bars. My R&G Adventure bars are 7/8” diameter. After a quick google search I came upon this thread - http://forum.cog-online.org/accessories-c14/rg-'adventure-bars'-and-rivco-highway-pegs/?PHPSESSID=mjcbi87ac0aoi6lqf6nqv3hot5 on the Concours Owners Group about how a member used Ilium sleeves to adapt the 1” peg mounts to his 7/8” R&G Adventure bars.

So now I had a plan. I ordered the peg mounts, the sleeves, and a set of Rivco Highway Pegs - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005U80V6K/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I think based on the pictures everything turned out great. The Moto Werk pegs have a ton of adjustability in them so you can really fine tune the positioning of them to suit your leg length.

    Luckycharms,

Thanks for the research and photos.  :028:  I ordered all the parts today and hopefully by next weekend will have have completed this project. :152:

The cost of the R&G bars still makes me nuts.  :005:

    Again, thanks.

Just recently I thought I would try out some highway pegs.  Mine are definitely higher than yours. However, for me, I think what makes them comfortable in the higher position is the seat backrest.  I don't know how comfortable it would be without it.

    Xsv,

What kind of bracket and peg did you use?  Could you provide links to them?

I set mine up using Luckycharms method and it works great however there is some torque placed on the Adventure Bars that I believe is caused by the arm of the mount.

Any help with info and sourcing would be appreciated.

The following is what I ordered based on other posts I have read on the forum.  Sorry the links look like crap.  I ordered from these guys because they are about the only vendor that had all 3 pieces.  They shipped promptly.

This setup worked just as Luckycharms indicated.  I did have some difficulty, particularly with the Moto Werk part, please see,

Hmmm, I do like those crash bars.  Might be a worthy addition down the line.  Thanks for posting!
