    Broken brake pedal
    on: Mar 09, 2017, 05.23 pm
    Mar 09, 2017, 05.23 pm
Got cut up on a roundabout on my way home from work today the bike fell over on the right hand side, it's got a few scuff marks on the top box mirror housing and my crash bars, but the worst part after I got the bike moving again I discovered the brake pedal was sloppy,I think it could be just a bolt but I've booked it in for a new brake pedal on Tuesday. A very nice man riding a cruiser and a nice young lady came to my asistance to pick the bike up,I must say I rode home very carefully using only the front brake and I will have to do the same on Tuesday when I drop it off for repair.
    I am innocent☺!!

Sorry to hear about this but at least, from what you've posted,
    it's good that you weren't injured !

I broke mine off in a slow tip over.   It's a fairly large bolt that tapers down to about a 1/4 inch.   Mine broke off at the frame.  I removed the master cylinder plastic cover and the right foot peddle mount.   From there, you can see the broken stud in the frame.

The new bolt was about $6 dollars.  It has red thread lock on it.    I tapped the broken stud and put penetrating oil on it for about a week.   Then we used a left turning drill bit and an easy out to remove it. fixed

I snapped that bolt off when mine fell over.
It was a swine to get out. Damaged the thread taking it out.
Had to helicoil it. That worked very well though and the replacement went in a treat.

My brake pedal bolt broke after the bike was blown over (really). I carefully drilled a hole in the centre of the remaining thread and it came out easily enough with an eazi-out (1st time ever!).

Bobbya, if the worst part was your broken brake pedal, it is something to be thankful.  Sounds like crashbars did their job.

BTW, just curious... do you use the rear as your primary brake?
