Favorite New England Roads?

I'm planning a trip in early June from Long Island to Mt. Washington to the Maine Coast. Can anybody recommend any good twisty and scenic roads.

Kangamangus Highway should be on your list.  Also, have a look here

Route 100 goes right up the middle of Vermont.  Route 2 across the upper parts of NH and VT.  Route 232 between Routes 2 and 302 un VT, but near NH border.  Cannot go wrong in either the Green Mountains of VT or the White Mountains of NH!

Route 1 in Maine is nice, east of Rockland. To the SW it can be a parking lot full of tourists.

The state highways on the peninsula just west of Mount Desert Island are good.

Do Acadia park in spite of the tourists.

Route 9 in Maine east of Bangor is good.

Route 3 between Augusta and Bangor is a nice ride.

Just be careful of the state highways in Maine. Depending on how bad the winter was and when the road was last resurfaced they could be anything from great to terrible.
