    Pulsing Front Brake

    Hi All,

I have read all of the threads about this issue and have recently had this behavior show up on my 2016 TTSE (19600 Kms). I had new tires installed today and before I could mention the pulsing to the Service Manager he told me the mechanic would be checking the brakes on my bike. The dealer had recently serviced two TTSEs and both of them had pulsing front brakes. In both cases the mechanic found rusting components and pistons that were not working properly.

Triumph has covered this problem on these bikes under warranty. In my case there was no rusting but some problem with the pistons doing what they were meant to do so the Service Manager is putting in a warranty claim. He wants to fix this before it gets any worse. The rotors and pads were all within tolerance but the pads will be changed out as part of the fix. I did ask him about the possibility of the bobbins and the semi floating discs contributing to this problem as the disc has almost no movement and the bobbins do not rotate but he said they were operating as they should.

    best regards, Shemogolee

I had pulsing front brake. I installed ebc brake pads and no more pulsing.

Tell them to clean and rotate the bobbins anyway. It's not a big job and should be done occasionally.

I agree with ND, I get pulsing a coulpe of times a year, so far cleaning the bobbins has fixed the issue.

Just cleaned my bobbins on Thursday.  Third time I've cleaned them and this time they weren't frozen like the first time I cleaned them.  I use a brass bolt with a plastic washer under the head and a wing nut, and could rotate all of them with the wing nut before I even sprayed any brake cleaner on them.  Not a terrible job, just a little time consuming.

That is a great idea! Thanks for sharing. I get the pulsing front brake lever as well and cleaning and rotating the bobbins is a royal pain in the ass! Have never had to do it on any other bike I've owned, bad design with not enough free-play for the bobbins.

I use an easy out in a drill to rotate mine...wash the crud out with brake clean as I roll the bike forward. works great and only takes 5-10 minutes.
