Triumph demo resale policy
« on: June 15, 2013, 11:57:37 AM »
Hello to all,
While waiting to test the Trophy I am wondering if Triumph America has a set policy on resale of their Demo fleet.
While I am liking the TSE, I am choking on the sticker price a bit. $20,000 US for a second vehicle seems a bit crazy though I am loving the Trophy so far.
I have never had much trouble with my used bikes and wondered if a demo may be a good option for me if I can wait and find one.
I'm not sure I'd save much money but every bit would help.

Any help appreciated,

My last Triumph was a demo bike.  It had about 1200 miles on it when I bought it.  It was fully serviced and had a full (New bike) warranty.  I got a substantial discount on the price of the bike, so I thought why not ?
Had I been ready to make a purchase when I test rode the demo Trophy back in January, I would not have hesitated with that bike either.
My point is, a demo bike should be just as good as a fresh out of the crate one.  It should also be a bit less expensive.

If a dealer sets up a bike as a demo then Triumph will give the dealer a financial allowance but  it is up to the dealer at what price he sells the demo to a customer. Like any vehicle that price will depend largely on condition and mileage

It appears that this is a regional demo bike that my dealer had to locate and request. I don't know what the situation will be if I ask if it will be for sale at some point. I assume it would be around the time the 2014 models are out. When is that?

How did you pull that one off? Seems a lot off of sticker. Good on you.

My dealer is a small shop, he had two more on the way and needed floor space. He also sold my Scrambler at no cost to me, it only took 2 days.

I bought a "used" Trophy that I found on cycletrader being sold by a dealer. It was a trade in that had 111 miles on it and I got it for 3300 off MSRP.
