I went for a ride the other day and noticed the heated throttle grip was not working. Found the new OEM replacement online for $50, so i ordered it. The next morning I receive an email stating that there was a recent Triumph parts price increase. The new price-$125.00. Can anyone recommend a good pair of gloves !

Hi, I went to the new Triumph dealership in Glasgow on Sunday. Place looked amazing, all high tech very glitzy, fancy coffee shop and all that, you know, the look, it just kept going through my mind, who's paying for all this, Us, thats who. It's like the Mercedes / BMW car showrooms, all dolly birds wandering around with tablets asking if you need help, leather sofa's everwhere and coffee galore, guess what, 100+ for an hours labour in the workshop. Nonsense.

    EXMX,

Triumph recently realized they were selling parts at 1/2 the kit cost.  For example you could buy all of the parts to mount your GPS or install heated grips for 1/2 the cost of the kit containing the same parts.  That has recently been corrected, I was lucky enough to get the GPS mount parts before the discovery but not fast enough to get the heated grips.

    Timing is everything.  :027:

That is correct.  The kit used to sell for $250 US and the individual parts could be had for just under $100 (I paid $97 for all the parts), and in some cases from one vendor with a special forum discount for under $85.  The only thing the kit price got you was a box, and maybe installation instructions - which were posted here.

Thanks for the responses. I did originally notice the cost of the complete kit and thought there must be much more included than what I would need for a repair. I did contact a few more dealers, waiting to see if anyone honors the lower price.  If not, will start collecting deposit bottles and buy the new grip in December.

Just to follow up, Hermy's of Port Clinton, Pa. honored the $50 advertised price for the heated grip. The installation instruction found on this site made the replacement extremely easy.

Glad you found what you needed at the old price.  Maybe Triumph's pricing to dealers in the past on those items was lower as well.  Whether you found a cooperative dealer, or they had stock at an old price doesn't matter, you won!  :046:
