    Motor won't start

Hi all, I've been on this forum for a year this is my first post. I have a 2014 TTSE no problems until now.
The bike sat for 3 weeks with the battery tender on, fired her up on Monday no problem.it rained on Tuesday did not ride to work. Had the battery tenderon till Weds. went out Weds. Morning pushed the start button she cranked great did not fire. Tried starting several more times cranked great no start..pushed her back into the garage. Drove to work, came home from work tried to start her she started right up. Shut her down and started several more timed no problem. She sat again for a day, went to start her today(Friday) same thing cranked great did not fire up. This time I kept trying to start her eventually her fired up but was running rich, RPM was below 1000 ldleing little rough then it cleared up.shut her down several time and started up no problem. Went for a ride everything was normal, came home shut her down started up several times no problem. Checked the DTC CODES no codes displayed. Long story to ask if anyone ever experienced this problem? Thanks for any info.   ChuckG

    Hi ChuckG,

I can't recall anyone having the exact same problem, but can I ask first of all
if you have the Triumph branded DataTool S4 alarm fitted ?

There has been a fairly recent Recall for that product due to issues relating to Ignition cut out.
    See here : IMPORTANT ! Triumph Datatool S4 Alarm - RECALL !

Next, can I refer you this Topic : HOW TO : Check the most common faults & issues. Page 2 ( E-O )

This is a Topic I compiled and maintain, listing in alphabetical order,
the most common faults and issues reported by Forum Members.

That Link will take you to the second "Page" of 3, covering "E" to "O" -
Scroll down to "E" - ENGINE WON'T START where you will find several things to check.

My best guess ( if you don't have the Alarm ) would be an intermittent fault
with one of the switches in the safety interlock circuit,
( Side Stand, Clutch Lever, Gear Position Sensor, Engine Kill Switch ),
although that may not explain the "rich" running described for one of the starts.

    Hope that helps  :028:

Hello Coconut, I do not have the alram system on my bike, i will take a look at the info you referenced.
Thanks for your help.As a side note I just went out side to the garage and she started right up.I was thinking when she sat for the 3 weeks with a full tank of fuel and  the 10% ethinol we have in our fuel here in the States could it  have introduced moisture in the tank and caused this situation.I put  fuel stablizer in the tank on Wednesday to see if that might help. Thanks ChuckG

I took the bike to my local Triumph dealer cause it is still under warranty. After checking fuel pressure and changing #2 spark plug they found large carbon deposits in the throttle body and on the intake valves, they said it was due to bad gas. I get gas at the same station all the time and it is a hi volume station, never had any problem with my Bonneville America or my car. Could bad gas cause carbon deposits to this extreme?

Difficult question to answer, but unless the Dealer took a sample of the Gas
and had it analysed, how would they know for sure ?

that was my question, they said it smelled bad. There is only 5600miles on the bike, I don't know how much carbon can build up with little miles on it.  ChuckG

As far the fuel I use, I use BP Silver the same fuel I use in my 2003 Bonneville
America and never had a problem with it. I go to the same station 90%
    Of time unless I'm traveling.
