Rear fender & hi vis
« on: June 18, 2013, 05:56:51 pm »
following Chaos' lead, I've manufactured my own rear fender extender and added some reflective material to the rear end.
photo 1, First, I cut-up a plastic box lid
photo 2, then I shaped and fitted it under the number plate with 2 x 6mm bolts
photo 3, then made a warning triangle with reflective yellow tape & added 4 reflective dots ( 2 to the top box and 1 each to the panniers)
photo 4, this is what it looks like in the dark, with NO lights on the bike switched on.
Sorry that pics are upside down.

Look good but I do like the 'grass' from chaos. Good place to put GB sticker.

I think it looks great. Where did you get the warning triagle from Glenn?

By the way, Peole were giving me funny looks in the office as I tried to view the photo the right way up (by twisting my neck)  :745:

Cheers for the comments guys, had a chuckle at your attempts to view the pics.
To answer a couple of questions above; it performed brilliantly. We went through the mother of all storms last Thursday and the back end of the bike and panniers were spotless. The exhaust and drive shaft housing were still dirty though cos there's no side protection (calls for a hugger methinks).
I make the warning sign myself from reflective tape.
My friends riding with me at night said my bike lit up like Blackpool illuminations (that's a very bright light show at a British sea side resort).

photo after a 3 hr ride in an horrendous storm. Suffice to say that the back end was clean due up fender mod.
