    Factory Speaker Specifications....

I am looking to upgrade the speakers on my bike. I am told that if its important to make sure that the replacement speakers are the same resistance rating (in Ohms) as the factory speakers. It seems that there are 2-ohm and 4-ohm speakers. Does anyone know which the OEM speakers are? I have googled numbers off the back of them, but have had no luck determining this.

Doubtful if they are 2 ohm, Bose use 2 Ohm in powered stuff but most passive audio is 4 or more likely 8 ohm. Disconnect them and put a multi meter to be 100 %, waterproof speakers are quite a ltd market but good luck.  :001:

You could try emailing Triumph After Sales ( after.sales@triumph.co.uk )
and asking if they can give you the information, and / or Radiosound,
who are the radio manufacturer : customerservice@RADIOSOUND.com  :028:

    Cheers  :821:

I will do that. I emailed Radio Sound a week ago and they have yet to respond. I bought a set of polk audio db402 speakers. All polk audio are rated for marine use was what the salesman told me at Crutchfield, but I do know that these specific ones are marine rated and sound markedly better the factory ones. I just wanted to verify that since they are 4-Ohm speakers, that they wouldn't blow my brand new radio before I put this bike back together.

Higher impedance won't blow the radio, lower can do ... so worth knowing what the oem was. Do you have the original speakers available to test?
    Cheers

Thanks for the rapid response. I do have them and I have a multimeter. I am mechanically inclined, but electriclly challenged.

Are the Polk speakers the same footprint with the same mounting pattern?  If so it will be interesting to hear how this works out if they are rated the same as the OEM's.  Let us know, because there may be other members interested in an upgrade.  I know according to posts on the forum that the upgrade for a BMW K1600 is very involved time and labor wise to do.
