    Back in the fold
    on: Jun 12, 2017, 03.40 am

I picked up my blue 2017 Trophy Friday evening and couldn't be more pleased.  I took my wife out all day Saturday and she loved it too.  I kept expecting her to be done and want to go home, but she said her seat was more comfortable than being in the car.  We had almost 500 miles by the time we got home.

This is my third Triumph.  I had a 2011 Tiger 1050 that gave me 48K trouble free miles, before I was strong armed into test riding a 2014 Speed Triple.  They didn't tell me they put something in the S3 that eliminates the rider's sense of self control, so I totaled that bike after just 9 months and 14K miles.

I left the Triumph fold since they wouldn't send me a Tiger Sport, and bought a Versys 650 LT.  I've been after my wife for a little while to get something she would be more comfortable riding on for longer periods of time, but she wasn't very interested.  I found a deeply discounted black 2016 Trophy on a local dealer's website and showed her.  She doesn't know anything about motorcycles and cares even less, but absolutely loves Triumphs for some reason, so she agreed to go look at it.  Someone else put a deposit on the bike before we got there, but the helpful salesman was sure he could get another for the same price.  After sitting on the Trophy and seeing how much more room she had on the back, my wife decided that was a fine idea.  I told him I would prefer blue if he could get it since I already have a black bike, but assured him I would be happy with black at that price.  He called a couple days later and said he could only get blue in a new 2017, but would sell it at the same price as the leftover 2016.  Couldn't say no to that.

Even having to keep it under 6K RPM for now, I can tell the 1215 is a typical awesome Triumph motor.  It also handles way better than I thought a bike this heavy ever would.  The technology is a lot to get used to, especially the bluetooth stuff.  I'll get a pair of headsets and see what I can figure out, but I'm not yet sure being able to answer the phone and talk to other people while riding is going to be an improvement.  I kind of like those things being impossible while I'm riding.

I've read quite a bit about the audio and blue tooth already, but I'm sure I'll have more questions shortly.

Hi smash, and :400: to the Club !

Sounds like you got yourself a really good deal there,
    not to mention wife !

Once you get used to Audio in your helmet
    you'll probably enjoy it.

The intercom feature alone will be very useful
if you regularly have a Pillion passenger,
together with the ability to hear spoken GPS instructions
and listen to your favourite music on long journeys  :002:

    Cheers  :821:

    Welcome.

I concur. Great bike and my wife loves ours too.
My mother asked what I wanted to be when I grew up. I said "a biker". She said I'd have to choose one or the other.
