Black Forest Tour
« on: June 24, 2013, 09:19:33 am »
Hi All,

Just got back after our tour of the Black Forest and Vosges Mountains, where the first morning starting out form Calais was wet (hugger, screen worked perfectly rider and pillion stayed dry and muck free) then by the afternoon it was sunny and too warm, the temperatures rose to average 35 degrees C and up to a max of 41 degrees C over the next five days.

Riding through France into the Ardennes region of Belgium, riding fast sweepers and twisty forest roads. Then we continued into Germany arriving early evening at Baden-Baden, in the Black Forest.

We then rode down through the Black Forest on the famous B500, stopping to view the largest cuckoo clock in the world.

We crossed the Rhine into France spending the day riding in the Vosges Mountains.

On through the Champagne region of France to our hotel which has views across the lake of BBC TV’s “Merlin’s Castle”.

Then riding back to Calais for the tunnel back home..........one week 1300miles bike didn't miss a beat handled impeccably throughout, luggage worked out great, fuel consumption 49mpg on the pooter.

Pillion no complaints at all, so comfy she fell asleep most of the the ride back to Calais.

Now where to go?

I haven't been to Germany in 10 years.  I'm so jealous.  Glad you had a good ride :028:
