    Street triple rt? Vs Trophy

I wonder, is Triumph thinking about a Street Triple RT to replace the TTSE?   Some time ago I emailed Triumph about their alleged decision to not produce any more Trophys.   Their response said in essence "stay tuned for new models"  I was surfing around about the new 765 models and some of the journalist suggested that a RT version was expected but didn't make it to production.   Would a 765 version of the Street Triple in sport touring form be a worthy replacement?   Would it be suitable for long distance travel?  Could Triumph engineer a bike that would be big enough to carry the necessary gear, carry enough gas, etc. for extented touring with a 765cc motor?  Just thinking out loud.

It would be probably be a fine bike for solo touring, but I doubt it would be nearly as suitable for a passenger as the Trophy.

... and it would be a chain driven bike.

Humm you are correct chain drive would not be good.   I ride solo so the two up problem wouldn't bother me.  But it would others.

Hmmm...I'm thinking a 1600 CC triple at 176 hp sport touring model to take on the BMW K1600 GTL would be better.  :152:

The Trophy is the first non-chain bike I've had so a chain doesn't bother me.  A small can of chain lube and a center stand are easy enough.  If there is no center stand for the street, that would be a deal breaker.

A "Street Triple in sport touring form" could in some ways be an attractive replacement for the Trophy. But why didn't they bring the Sprint GT with a more upright sitting position then? A brilliant 1050 cc engine, nice growl, much torque, low consumption, good for two-up, easy serviceble, not too heavy; and: it looked very good too! It was chain driven but I didn't mind about that until I learnt the easiness of the Trophy-shaftdrive.
