Hello, I've noted how the Hella socket just above the pillions knee (left hand side) could be used, but I would love to know what the members here actually use it for - may help a bit as I find it a  bit redundant !   Ta.

That Power socket is permanently live.

It is used by some Members for connecting Heated Gear ( Trousers / Jacket etc ) when riding,
and by many as a convenient place to connnect a Battery Tender,
as an alternative to fishing around under the edge of the Battery Cover,
to access a socket with short cable attached directly to the battery.  :028:

    Cheers  :821:

Use that Hella outlet initially to power car SatNav. Now use it to power on the fly SenaSMH10 headset (when I've forgotten to charge overnight).

I use mine to keep the battery in check if I know I won't be riding for a while.

I recently tried to charge my mobile via the outlet and only succeeded in melting the phone.

Can anyone tell; me why the phone had a melt down?   :125:

I only use it to connect to a battery tender.

    brenchley,

You're probably right.  :028:  but is there more power coming out of the Hella socket?  I usually charge my phone using the socket in the top box but you only get power from there when the engine is running.

Maybe the USB socket would be the wise choice for phone charging. :084:

The port will only deliver as much power as the load draws. Whatever charger you plugged into the port is broken.
