Mirror hole size?

I was wondering if I could use a RAM set up to mount a GPS and not use the TTSE mounting bracket?  Would this work?  What RAM set up would I need?

Gary, if you use the Triumph tankbag, make sure you can maintain clearance between bag and whatever you intend to fit !

I have my GPS on the right side mounted on a 6in RAM mount. Used the 1in ball in the mirror hole. Rock solid. It can be run very close to the tank bag and it doesn't interfere. Here's a pic.
