So I've gone and joined the club

So I've gone and done it-my first online post in a message group! What can I say I'm being brought into the digital age kicking and resisting.
I purchased my Trophy September of 2017-While the bike is a 2016 model it is titled as a 2017 in these divided um United States, a government designation for when it arrived on the West Side of the Atlantic. I've been shopping for a new bike for years, perpetually looking to add to or change the stable. I spent 10 days on an RT1200 in Germany and Austria, a completely capable but emotionally sterile ride. The GS? Here in the states there's a ton of posers seeking the McGregor aesthetic, but it's not for me. Rode it through the Pyrenees and found it capable in every way and somewhat aloof, if an inanimate object can be. Loved the Tiger 1200 riding the Adriatic, adored the engine, comfort, and handling, especially compared to the Beemers but read a lot of mixed reviews on the forums. Wished it was about 5K less expensive. Took a two day test ride on a deeply discounted K1600GT, the engine was a thing of wonder but the seat left my butt sore for days and I couldn't find a sweet spot with the adjustable windshield. Truthfully if they weren't such a bunch of  :172:  at the local dealership I probably would have purchased it last fall. Too, the BM owners I know are such snobs about how many miles they ride and their latest $800 helmet, and the entire vibe of their shop was a turnoff. Motoworks in Chicago gave me a four day test ride with a Trophy loaner, a great trade-in price on my 2002 K1200RS, and took about eight grand off the sticker. Sold. The Greek who rides on back is effusive in her praise, the engine is a thing of beauty.  I'm already averaging 50 miles per US gallon and searching for some hard to find twisties. The bike feels 150 lbs lighter than stated and is incredibly intuitive to ride-although the computerized trip setup is annoying (not a technology nerd).
I've ordered the RG "adventure" guards, drop guards to me (its a dark, steep driveway to a narrow garage, what can I say). I'd love some opinions if anyone has the Corbin seat, I'm not a fan of the top case (rarely if ever used my last one) but need to find an appropriate back rest for the Goddess.
I read the forum extensively before making my purchase, I appreciate the lack of hostility and competitiveness in the posts, and hope to meet some of you down the line.
    Peace my brothers and sisters.

Welcome to the forum. You've hit the nail on the head about some BMW owners. Mumbling about how beautiful the roundel is on the side of their bikes while wearing an ascot and smoking their pipes.
My mother asked what I wanted to be when I grew up. I said "a biker". She said I'd have to choose one or the other.
