    Valve Shim diameter?

Can someone tell me what the Trophy's valve shim diameter is? I have been lead to believe they are fairly common size across many bike brands and models. I ask because my bike is at the dealer for the 40k service and they tell me they need to order shims from Triumph (multi-day delay in return of bike). I find it hard to believe the Trophy's shims are not a standard size.

According to the exploded parts drawings and information at World of Triumph
they are 9.5mm diameter, and available in 0.025mm incremental sizes
    from 1.700mm up to 3.000mm thick  :028:

You can buy a kit of shims from many sources...but... be sure and measure the old shim thickness and then the new to verify you are getting the correct change.

    Thanks Coconut!
This is not the 1st time this dealership has 'yanked my chain' with lame excuses. Recall 1.5 years ago they delayed my crash repair for 3 weeks by not ordering the parts even though already approved by insurance, claiming they needed my CC info. They never called to tell me that and waited until I called for status thinking the bike would be ready by then.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, never see me again!

There are over 50 ( 53 ? ) different sized shims in a complete kit,
and they won't know which specific shims they will need for the 12 valves,
until the Cylinder Head has been dismantled, and measurements taken,
but knowing there is around a 10 day delivery period for such parts from the UK,
and knowing they have a Major service booked in - presumaby in advance,
wouldn't it be good if they DID carry a complete kit of shims in stock,
and then just ordered replacements for the shims used ?  :015:

Dealers are supposed to carry in stock a standard supply of normally needed repair parts. The first service I had done on my trophy, when I went the pick it up they announced they hadn't changed the air cleaner cuz they didn't have one in stock, blamed it on Triumph, and told me I'd have to come back and pay another two and a half hours labor when they got one in, Battle Royal about that one but I won

I wish that Triumph hadn't of gone down the shim route when designing this engine, what's wrong with the screw adjustment type or better still, auto adjust hydraulic type. :002:

Oh well, it will take me a good few years till I reach that sort of mileage, I'll worry about tackling it then. :003:

Not sure if the shims on a Trophy are the same sizes as the rest of the triumph range, but it would have been a good idea if they were. That way, a dealer would only need one service box and replace what gets used. Als, any established dealer who has serviced a few bikes ought to keep the ones removed from an engine to use on others bikes, or is that to simple?
