Hi ChuckG,
First off, a faulty Gear Position Sensor "can" prevent the engine starting
due to the Safety Interlocks, but you "should" still be able to start the engine
by holding the clutch IN, and with the Side Stand UP.
( The engine will not start unless the clutch is held in when depressing the Starter button,
and the Gearbox is
either in Neutral, or if a Gear is selected, the Side Stand must be UP )
Basics first ( sorry !) - make sure the gearbox really IS in Neutral -
put the bike on the Centre stand, and rotate the rear wheel by hand
while depressing the Gear Pedal repeatedly downwards until it is in 1st gear.
You can tell when you hit 1st gear as you will not be able to press the pedal down again !
Next, raise the Gear pedal slightly to hit Neutral ( rear wheel can be turned by hand ).
Turn the Ignition ON to see if the Neutral light is on - if it is - problem solved !
If the Neutral Light is NOT on, and with the Side Stand DOWN,
hold the Clutch lever IN, and depress the Starter Button.
If the engine turns over and starts you may have a faulty
Instrument Panel Neutral Indicator LED ! ( Unlikely ).
If the engine does not start, put the Side Stand UP, hold the clutch lever IN
and press the Starter button again.
If the engine starts, let the clutch out to confirm that Neutral is selected,
and then lower the side stand - if the engine cuts out,
you probably have a faulty Gear Position Sensor,
which is located at the left side of the Trophy immediately in front of the Gearbox input shaft,
( obscured from view by the plastic panel carrying the Power socket next to the Riders knee ).

To get at the Sensor you should ideally remove the left side Fairing,
but it can be accessed without doing so .....
1. Remove small trim piece held in place by 2 pegs into rubber grommets - it just pulls out.

2. Remove the exposed Screw ( 5mm hex )

3. Remove the other smaller retaining screw ( Easy if Fairing is removed, fiddly if it's not ! )

4. Pull the rear edge of the panel carrying the Power socket outwards -
again there are two pegs located into rubber grommets.

5. The Gear Position can now be seen - separate the wiring connector, remove two bolts
and withdraw the sensor.
Hope that helps !

Cheers
