    Headlamp bulb.

    Evening all,

I want to change the bulb, the centre one between the headlights, to me it gives out a yellow light, and it looks rubbish. I replaced the one's on my Honda cbf 1000 because of the same reason, I know its a 12v 5w bulb, but is it the type with the bit of filament sticking out of the end and bent over.

Admin, if this is in the wrong place, please feel free to move it  :028:

    Cheers Wilko.

Thank you for the reply, I really appreciate it, I thought it would be that type, just couldn't think of the name.

Here across the pond those little bulbs are the standard 168/194 push in bulb.  I replaced mine with a LED white bulb.  I like it, and I am confident I should never have to replace it again.

They are polarized (only works installed the right way) so install, turn on.  If no light, turn off, turn bulb around in socket, try again.  Should be money.

LED versions "should" last longer, but yesterday I saw a Trophy with both front and rear
"Position Lamps" fitted with LED bulbs, and both were faulty !

The front LED bulb took a while to "warm up" and get bright,
while the rear was nice and bright but bgan to Flash ON and OFF -
quite noticably, so if fitting LED's check them regularly
to make sure they are working correctly !

The small center bulb is fully bright as soon as it is powered up. As for position bulbs, are those not also blinkers? Sometimes the reduced wattage causes them issues, which this center bulb is not.

Also,  one has to be mindful of where the LED bulbs we're manufactured, quality, etc.

I'm referring to just the single white bulb between the Headlamps,
which in the UK is referred to as a "Parking" or "Position" or "Side Light" bulb,
and also the one at the back for the Registration Plate illumination, ( "Tail Light" ) ,
both of which are simple LED type plug in replacements,
and as you hinted, were probably from China !
