Heavy or light Trophy vs FJ-09

Coconut now's your chance to say I told you so!  Since selling the Trophy and having the Multistrada totaled out from under me I've been trying to decide what's next.  Been riding my '11 Sprint GT so haven't been in a panic.  It's down to 2 bikes, another Trophy or an FJ-09.  Told my friend that owns local Triumph dealership if he'll sell me his remaining Trophy for the same price I paid for the last one I'd take it.  Don't know if he'll do it or not and if not I'm looking hard at the FJ-09.  I know it doesn't have the features of the Trophy but it's light, quick and fun.

I've been eyeing one of these as well. Ticks most of the boxes for my requirements. Good commuter, good tourer, good power and nice and nimble. But most of all, it doesn't weigh a ton and as I get older, comfort and light weight are very important to me. Lately my arthritic wrists are complaining painfully and I need to get a lighter bike that I can move around easily both on the road and in my garage. I love my SE but I hate the weight and outlandish service costs. As soon as I am comfortably able to get rid of my SE, I will do so and move on. Cheers.

I think Triumph should make a "tourer light" with the 800 triple. I'm sure it would sell well and keep more bikers in the Triumph fold.

Given that you can get brand new Trophy's for $12,999 out the door, I'd say it's a no brainer to go with the Trophy.
