Buddy Refuelling
« on: June 29, 2013, 04:45:41 PM »
Hi All,

going to be touring with my partner who rides a BMW K1300S. His tank range is around 200 miles at a steady touring pace and mine on the Trophy is over 300.

Wondering about the possibility of sharing that extra 100 miles range by syphoning off some of the excess fuel to his bike with a mini syphon from my tank to his. Only to be used in the case of emergencies wif we get distance between filling stations wrong or something. Not something I expect to have to do very often, but might be nice to have the option.

Thinking of something like this.

Thoughts, inputs? :440:

you may also want to consider this:

far less expensive and probably as efficient? I always carry one in my tank bag, never had to use it yet, but just in case

In the past I just used a simple plastic tube.  I can't imagine I am the only one old enough to remember the old fashioned way to siphon.  But both look inexpensive enough.  Don't know how well either will work.

Now you are talking!

One of the reasons we will be going via Sancerre for our summer bike trip this year is to stock up on Domaine Vacheron Belle Dame!

We managed to bring back 2 cases on our last trip, 12 bottles on the seat packs of each bike, just about running dry now! LOL

What are you messing around at?! Simply bin the BMW and buy a second Triumph   :007:  Alternatively, if he can't see the error of his ways, then let him push it the final 100 miles while he ponders on the error of his ways   :038:

Oh, if only all problems were this easy to solve  :001:

If I thought his legs could reach the ground straddling a Trophy then I would certainly recommend one whole heartedly but it is too much of a stretch, even with the seat on the low setting
