Gallery Updates

The Photos Gallery has had a few updates with the following added:

1. Upload button available when composing post (in forum).
2. The ability to "Follow" a Gallery member
3. The ability to "Like" an image
4. Additional "Explore" Menu and Search options
5. On screen "Notifications" for "Likes" and "Follows"
6. Bug Fixes


New Gallery Upload Button

When you "compose" your post you now have the option of uploading an image (or multiple images) and having the bbcode links automatically embedded into your post.

If you look under the post composition box there is now a new "Upload images" button:





Simply compose your post up to the point where you want your image(s) to appear. Then hit the "Upload images" button and you'll be taken to the Gallery where you can upload your image(s). You'll be prompted for your Gallery username/password if not already logged in. Once the image(s) have uploaded you'll be instantly retuned to your post and the links will be "auto magically" inserted.

This button is in addition to any existing functionality so you can still upload in the Gallery normally if you wish.

Please not that this is now the preferred way of adding images to your post. In future "Attachments" will be confined to non-image files like documents, data files, etc. This will slowly be introduced once people have got used to using the Gallery for their images.


Follow Gallery Members

You can now "Follow" any Gallery members. (It's similar to forum "Buddies"). Extra menu and search options have been added so you can easily see the pics of anyone that you are "following".

You can also see who you are "following" and who "follows" you from your "Profile" menu.

To follow someone go to their Gallery page and "Follow" button next to their name:




To stop following someone go to their Gallery page and click on the same button which will now say "Following":




Likes

There is now a "Like" button which you can click on if you "like" someones photo.

It shows in various places and shows as a button (as below) or just as a "heart".



Please note that "Likes" will not be implemented in the forum so please don't ask 


Updated "Explore" menu

With the addition of "Likes" and the ability to "Follow", the explore menu now has some additional ways of viewing images. "Popular" and "Following" have been added:





Please note that the "Popular" menu option will give partial results at first until people actually start using it. Over time it will give better results.


Notifications menu button

There is now an addition "Notications" menu item (looks like a "Bell").

Basically if someone "Follows" you or "Likes" your image then you'll get a notification there. This is a visual notification only, you don't get any emails.





Bug Fixes

Oh... we did some bug fixes as well, most of which you won't have noticed !
