My first 100 miles: Initial impressions

After buying the bike Fri evening, I didn’t waste any time taking her for a nice ride today.  My other primary bike is a water cooled T120 so at least you’ll know where my impressions are coming from:

    Initial impressions:
Bike is super smooth.  Instills great confidence in the driver.  I caught myself super comfortable super early.  At one point I was just nodding off and daydreaming.  Not literally of course but it is easy to bond with the bike.  First bike I’ve had with a stereo.  It was nice to not have to blare the music in my helmet.   I can ride the bike like a cruiser or push it harder like a sport bike (even though I’m not a sport-bike type).  Well balanced bike for me.   Still getting used to the low speed weight but once you get going, easy.

Height:  I’m 6’0” and the seat (currently low seat set on low) may be too low.  I’ll look at adjusting it up one notch to see how I like it.

Saddle:  consensus is that it sucks.  But I like it so far.   Maybe it is just 100 miles as a short ride.   But it was plenty comfortable for my @ss.

Controls:   What crackhead decided to put the high beams in the spot where I’m going to hit it everyone I adjust the radio presets?

Self canceling turn signals: I’m gonna get spoiled with these!

Overall ride:  loved it.   I found myself extending the ride just so I could take my time.

Overall:  love the bike.  Can’t wait to get out and ride again!

Aye Jid she's a great ride. Most amazing aspect is handling, once you get the big girl rolling she sheds all her weight. Enjoy.

100 miles?!?!?!   What the heck????   You can get 300 from a tank of gas!     :017:

I'm 5'9" and immediately bought the OEM heated seat, which is the "normal" height, unlike the "low" version our USA bikes ship with.
For me the height of the heated seat works much better, without having to notch the seat into the upper position.

Welcome to the family, from the Left Coast.    :821:

Funny you should mention the seat...   as much as it didn’t bother me, I tried to raise it and boy does that suck in the raised position.   Height was still too short I think.  But the seat clearly wasn’t meant for the ‘upper’ position.   So I’m going to take a look at that heated seat.   Sounds like amassive improbement if my search button skills are correct.

Glad you like it. I am one of those unusual people who find the seat to be comfortable.
My mother asked what I wanted to be when I grew up. I said "a biker". She said I'd have to choose one or the other.

So the list of 'things' i've ordered so far to customize the bike a bit:

    - Standard heated seat - I don't love the low-rider seat due to placement.  i'm 6'0" so i think i need an inch or 2.
    - Adventure bars - After reading enough posts about these, i'm ordering them.
    - grip warmers - Why not...  I have them on my other bike and love them.  :)
    - Tank pads - Loved them on my other bikes...
    - Trident exhaust - I love the idea of the lighter exhaust.  Plus y'all say it sounds good.  I don't need louder but i do like the weight reduction.
    - CalSci windscreen - Go Large or go home!

If y'all can think of any other must-haves, please let me know!   :)

Welcome aboard JID! Glad you're enjoying the bike so far.

Which tank pads are you looking at? I'm looking for some pads to go where the knees tend to rub against the body work but haven't found anything specific for the Trophy and the others I've found require me to cut them to shape.

Ordered these:  https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/techspec-snake-skin-tank-pads-triumph-trophy-se-2013-2015?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIpu7Ez_aq1wIVEJd-Ch1HAQesEAQYASABEgKeF_D_BwE .  I had them on a couple of my other bikes and liked them.  They should be here later this week so I can post pics of how they fit!
