Took my TT for its first MOT today and pleased to say it sailed through with not even a single advisory!! Well chuffed  :152: not bad for a 3 year old bike with 40,100 miles on the clock. I love this bike   :152:

My only exposure to MOT was watching Edd China take in a couple of cars on Wheeler Dealers.  It looked like an extremely thorough inspection.  Would it be common for such a new bike to have problems getting through?

The UK "MOT" ( Ministry of Transport ) Test, is first carried out at 3 years
from the date of first registration, which has been the case since 1967 !

Whilst it IS conceivable that something may have gone wrong within those 3 years,
resulting in an inspected item failing the first Inspection / Test, production processes
and materials have improved considerably in the last 50 years, and this is now much less likely.

There is currently a Government consultation taking place to consider extending the date of the
first inspection of cars, vans and motorcycles, to 4 years from the date of first registration.

Details Here : Government Consulations - Extending the First MOT Date

    Cheers  :821:

I'm glad we don't have motorcycle inspections here in Missouri.  We would have to have the "Ministry of Magic" inaugurated to perform those inspections.   :745:

    Hmmm  :084:

Personally I'm quite happy that we have these inspections,
as they help identify and correct dangerous vehicle conditions,
potentially saving lives / injuries - as and when they fail !

A bit like being happy that the aircraft I might be in has ( should have ) had
regular and thorough inspections - for much the same reason !  :164:

If you would be more careful with your stuff and not total your bikes before they are five model years old you would get to have them inspected.   :745: :745:
