    Updated DealerTool Thread
    on: Dec 13, 2017, 12.40 am

Opening up a new DealerTool thread as the old one is several years and versions old.

I bought the DealerTool cable, v2.5, secondhand and have downloaded and installed the latest v6.02a of the software onto my Microsoft Surface Pro 3 running Windows 10 Professional.

Installation was performed by running the Setup.exe program and everything seems to be normal.  The FTchipID.dll was copied to the C:\Program Files (x86)\Dealertool\Dealertool folder.

I connected the DealerTool cable to the OBDII port and then to the Surface.  An orange indicator light is shown on the cable.  I turned the key on for my Trophy and then opened DealerTool.  Under the Options menu, there are no Comm ports showing up as available.  This tells me the FTchipID.dll is not functioning properly.

    Anyone have any suggestions?

Because of Windows updates I have had to reinstall several times.  It's always a driver issue.  Also you will need to contact Dealertool to buy a "key" for your bike.

This was the solution from "dealertool" last time that got me up and running.

Start with the interface disconnected from the PC

Please try the driver from here:

    http://www.ifamilysoftware.com/Drivers/PL2303_64bit_Installer.exe

connect the interface when asked and then be sure to restart the PC when
    prompted.

Use the same USB port on the PC each time.

    Thanks for the tips.

I've already purchased the additional key but I need to connect to the bike first and get the ECU number before they will send me the key.

Does it show up in device manager?  It should show serial port and port number .  If windows can't see it then dealer tool does not stand a chance.  There's a possibility that windows could choose a big port nu her and some applications cannot see them.  It can be remembered windows gives you dire warnings but just ignore it

    New software update you say?

Perhaps that should have read "latest" Software Update, which is Version 6.20a ( not 6.02a ),
It is not "new" having been released a while ago ( Sorry - I don't have the date - sometime in 2016 ? ).

For interest, I have been discussing a couple of issues with DealerTool:
    • Enabling the Heated Grips and Heated Seats Instrument Panel Icons
    • Programming of new TPMS Modules.

They ARE working on trying to develop solutions for both of these,
and tell me that the Heated Grips & Seats Icons issue is almost there.

They are continuing to work on the TPMS programming, which is taking a little longer
as the DealerTool device is not just for the Trophy, but for ALL EFI Triumph Models.

So far they have discovered three different TPMS programming protocols,
and, assuming they can develop a solution for all of them,
would need to include them all in the next software Release.

There have also been delays where work has had to be diverted to ensure compatibility
with the new TFT Screens on some of the ( other ) newer Triumph models !

I will update here as and when I hear any further news !

    Cheers  :821:

    Update 27/02/18 - IMMINENT SOFTWARE UPDATE !

Further to my previous message - I just wanted to let everyone know that I have heard back
from DealerTool, that there is an imminent Software Update for the DealerTool device.  :152:

The update will be provided Free of charge (  :080: ) for those with Version 2.5 interface cables
( since April '14 ).  Older versions are no longer supported with such updates.

The new Software version will add the following functions :

    • Enable / Disable Heated Grips Instrument Panel Icons
    • Enable / Disable Heated Seats Instrument Panel Icons
    • Enable / Disable TPMS system

It will not be possible to add new TPMS Codes to the system at present,
although their Technicians are still working on providing this function.

This is excellent news and credit is due to the DealerTool team for continuing to work on this for us.  :047:

Please don't "pester" the guys at DealerTool about the update - they are busy enough
getting it ready for general release, and doing so could delay this !

When it is available for Download a further announcement will be made here.  :169:

    Cheers  :821:
