Hello from southern Maryland. Dave. Thinking of selling the Goldwing and buying a Trophy 1200. Actually the GL1800 is already up for sale. And it will be the Trophy or the R1200RT, of course. I would go with the Triumph, but am concerned about longevity. Want to poke around here some and ask experience. Very, very little information comes up through internet-wide searches.

Welcome to the forum. Former BMW owner here. They are good machines (BMWs) but the maintenance costs far exceed the Trophy. Test drive the Trophy with your down payment in your pocket. You will drive home a happy man.

This is by far the best resource for the Trophy any where on the web. There has been little in the way of serious issues with the Trophy and they have been resolved. Its a great bike, test ride it and see is the best advice!
Triumph Trophy! Not for every Tomaz, Dieter or Herman!🇬🇧

Certainly take one for a test ride first, it is a great bike.

If I lived in the USA and we're dependant on a dealer doing the work etc then I'm not sure that I'd go for a British bike period, you may end up waiting a long time for parts??

I've no idea if that aspect is better with say BMW, obviously Germany is a lot closer to the UK but that's no reason to buy a BMW,....I'd probably stick with Japanese in that case.

Hi Blue42 and :400: to the Forum !

All the information you are likely to need will be somewhere in the Forum,
so have a Browse around, and use the "Search" button for anything specific.

If there's something you cant find, just start a New Topic in a relevant Section of the Forum
and you'll soon have the answer(s) you need.

I can't advise on how you will like the Trophy compared to your Gold Wing,
as I've never ridden a Gold Wing, but I would imagine that what you may lose in terms of
luxury armchair comfort, will be more than compensated for by the sheer thrill of the ride  :001:

    Cheers  :821:

Hi  Blue42, welcome aboard  :401:,  traded my `RT '   for the Trophy and to get back to Triumphs of which I had  always previously ridden.     If you take a `test ride' then take your wallet..... :821:

:400: blue42.  I have had four BMWs over the years since 96, three RTs and an LT in between.  Always had good luck with them.  I thought I would never own another brand, that is until I test rode a Trophy.  I like it better, and the more I ride it the better I like it.
