    Greetings From Massachusetts

    Hi Everyone,

I began riding about two and a half years ago, shortly after I turned 60.

Started on a Honda CTX700 with a DCT (automatic) transmission.  The Honda is an excellent bike for new or returning riders and is incredibly easy to ride.  I plan to keep it for when the bigger bikes are just too much for me to handle.

After about six months I bought a 2014 Ninja 650 to get comfortable with a manual transmission.  Traded the Ninja for a 2015 Versys 1000 because I wanted something bigger and the price was right.  Last week I traded the Versys for a 2017 Trophy SE.

I picked the Trophy because (i) I wanted something bigger than the Honda and more comfortable than the Versys for long distance touring and (ii) my brother-in-law loves his Trophy.  It looks like this will be the last model year for the Trophy but I plan to keep this one for a while and the dealer discount compensated for the change in Triumph's product line-up.

Last week we had some early snow in Massachusetts but the streets were clear enough today for my first ride.   New bike break-in, new tires, and wet roads meant I rode conservatively. That said, I was impressed by the Trophy's handling, comfort and wind protection.  The jury is still out on the Trophy mirrors, but I may just need to learn how to position them.

Looking forward to learning many new things from this forum.

    All the best,

    Arthur

Every time you ride your Trophy you will thank your BIL for being such a good BIL and recommending the Trophy so highly.  You will love it once you get to do some mileage on it.

Hi Sleuth and :400: to the Club !

The phrase "Better late than never" springs to mind !

You might have noticed that front brake and clutch fluid reservoirs
have two rubber bungs, which are covering up threaded holes ( M10 x 1.25 RH )
that can accept standard handlebar mirrors.

The stems of the mirrors will partly obscure the stock mirrors,
but I fitted some to my Trophy and find they are very useful supplements.

    Cheers  :821:

:401: and congratulations Sleuth, great choice, you will like it more and more as the miles mount up.  Too bad you have to wait for nicer weather, that would kill me.

Hi Sleuth, :400:  I did not like the mirrors, so for less than 20$ got a set from ebay, and now only have stock mirrors adjusted for blind spot and am more than happy with new set up .today. should be warm enough to go for a little spin
    merry Christmas,kinghoow
