Why is it critical to not pair the phone to the bike? What happens?

If the phone is paired to the bike, you can't make outbound calls.

The Trophy has no on-board intercom capability like the K1600 has so it can't operate other devices by voice control from the helmet.  With helmet comm's getting better and better it may not be as big an issue now as it was in the past when there was only one bluetooth channel on comm units.  I guess the Sena SMH10 was the first unit with 2 separate channels that could be paired at the same time.  I think almost all of them can do that now, but I haven't been investigating them since I don't need one.  Good stuff out there from a variety of manufacturers.
