    Hi Everyone,

My first time on a forum so hopefully I'm doing this right. A very large virtual whiskey all round from north of the border :821: hic!
I ride a 2013 silver Trophy SE with about 16K on the clock. Used to ride a '07 R1200RT, liked it, but the Trumpet is just so much more refined.
A wee bit early I know, but I'm currently giving it it's 20K service. I do all my own work on it as I used to be a technician in a past life and know the kind of shenanigans that go on at dealership's workshops. Job done right do it yourself and all that..
I've searched the forum but can't seem to find an answer to my question. I'm refitting the swing arm and bevel box after repacking the bearings and lubing the driveshaft splines. All good so far but the Triumph workshop manual says to preload the taper roller bearings to 45 and 48 Nm respectively. This seems very tight when I'm torquing them up (calibrated wrench). I know torque can be affected by having a lubricant on the threads but the manual states to apply a smear of grease before installing.
I can understand that some preload on the bearings is required but I'm worried that 45Nm is putting them under immense strain. I've never had to do taper rollers up this tight before.
Probably worrying about nothing but just wanted to check if anyone else had experience with this?
Looking forward to chatting to fellow Trophy owners, beautiful bike, don't see too many up here.
Time flies like the wind, fruit flies like bananas.

:400: to the forum.  I'm sure the resident Trophy SE guru Coconut will appear and furnish correct information to solve your dilemma.  He's one of our main go to guys for a lot of good info, and is always checking in to help.  Buy him a virtual pint (or more likely a tea) and he's glad to help with anything.  No pressure or anything Coconut!  :745:
