    Anyone try an adventure tire?

Has anyone tried an adv style tire, such as a 90/10 like an Avon Trailrider, or Pirelli Scorpion?  They tend to have big tread blocks and provide a little better traction if you get into gravel. They seem to handle ok on the tarmac. I'm wondering if they might last longer than a sport touring tire. Bridgestone just came out with an A41. I'm wondering if it would be worth a try.

Personally, if I rode on loose surfaces so much that I was thinking of fitting ADV tyres to my TT, I would be changing it for a Tiger!

Interesting idea, I've never seen our style of road bike with that type of tyre,......if you fit them, let us know how you get on.

What you need is a set from the Company that provided the tyres
fitted to the Speed Triple, used by Tom Cruise in "Mission Impossible II" -

I think there must be a switch on the Handlebars to flick between
"Road" pattern and "Off Road pattern tyres.  :164:

Good eye, I didn't watch the movie but if I did doubt I would have caught the difference.  Personally I don't think I would use such a tire on the Trophy.  The occasional dirt/gravel road is rare, save some parking lots at eateries and such.

Not on my Trophy but I had a Tiger Explorer before the TTSE and I found the adventure tires were helpful when encountering loose dirt or other slick surfaces.  The Tiger handled very well on pavement (occasionally drag my pegs) and I don't think the adv. tires would be a problem on the TTSE.

I have a friend with a 1200GS and he was talking about putting Pilot Road 4's on it because the adventure tires do not last long for him and he rides 95% on pavement.

How many miles do you get out of a pair of the standard tyres?
