Final drive oil after 72k miles

I only change it at the first 500 miles service and then never again. So the final drive oil in this photo is almost 72k miles. The color appear to be little dark, but not that bad. What do you think?

It is little dark, are there any particles in the bottom?  What brand did you refill with when you changed it at 500 miles?  Probably a good time to change it.  I  have seen worse like my 96 Chevy p/u when I changed it last year for no particular reason.

Triumph say leave it for life after the initial change. I say it's only £3 for the small amount of oil needed to change at each service. Over to you!

Appears to have held up well.  I agree with checking for metal particles, but other than that, looks like Triumph may be right.  I still change mine regularly, since it costs so little compared to everything else, and is so easy to do.

I change mine every oil change, cheap insurance and allow checking for dreaded metal.

Hard to tell much of anything from just a visual until you can see chunks.  Smell can be a tough one as well.  Is lab testing going to get you anything other than some peace of mind?  I don't know.

Anyone know what the 'lifespan' of a Trophy is suppose to be? What's the official word from Triumph??

Their only concern would be for the shaft to last that long, maybe that's why they state that only changing the oil once is sufficient??

I'll be changing mine every year or two for sure, it can't do anything but good in my opinion, even if the metal particles are so minute, I'd rather have them out than in.  :002:
