    It finally happened

I was out on a short ride the other day with the wife. We stopped to see an enormous snapping turtle by the side of the road. I had to turn around as we set out and guess what, I dropped the bike.  I fought valiantly to keep it upright, but to no avail. No injuries except to my pride which was deeply bruised. Some scratches here and there on the bike but nothing major.

Why did this happen? When I stopped I failed to put the bike in first gear. So as we set out and leaned a bit there was insufficient power at that low speed. Very foolish on my part.
My mother asked what I wanted to be when I grew up. I said "a biker". She said I'd have to choose one or the other.

its my nightmare with this bike, i am SO frightened of a low speed turn and it tipping in.

there is a place called applecross i want to go to next week, and the amount of people who say to be careful with this big lump of a bike as they are saying lots of sharp turns that im liable to struggle with getting this lump round!

I did this when not thinking in the early days of owning the bike. A  turn around in the road in second gear. No warning, just a chug and the engine stopped dead and down we went.

Glad to hear nobody or even the turtle got hurt.  Shake it off.

I should have taken a picture!

A problem I found was that when i changed the suspension for pillion as well the bike became very unstable at very low speeds.  I now never use 2 up settings and have never had another problem.   When in two up is was very dramatic at every stop.
