Iowa 80 Truck Stop for Lunch.

A friend and I decided to ride out for lunch somewhere today.  I haven't done a proper expressway trip with the Trophy, so we decided to head out to the Iowa 80 Truck Stop.  That would give me the chance to check mileage and see how the bike rides at speed.  So we met up and took off for a 360 mile lunch run.  The bikes ran perfectly and I observed 48.6 mpg running at 70-77 mph average with the screen full up.  I thought that was pretty good.  I think I fell in love a little with my bike today.   :007:

Lovely! Did a 360 km (about 200 miles) run with the wife last weekend in 2 days. Apart from the 30 degrees celcius the trophy handles awesome. Like a train, it's on rails!

on rails...  yes!  This is the first bike that I've owned that, at high speed, has no wiggle or vibrations.  Maybe it's that the fairing is not fork mounted, but it is smooth as silk at 80mph.

Rumor has it that it is just as stable at 95 mph. :156: Next time you come across a Porsche with a radar detector leading the way, you might be able to find out for yourself.  :028:

Stable at much faster than 95.  I do have a radar detector and there is plenty of desert here to "try" out WOT

Good to hear that you still got almost 50 MPG at extended highway speeds.  Helps with the planning for this summer.  Have avoided extended freeway trips for that long until this year.
What did you have lunch?  An important part part of any lunch run  :002:.

Iowa 80 is "The Largest Truck Stop in the World".  They have everything from a dentist, chiropractor, showers, food court, shopping, a full resturant, truck parts store, truck wash and maint shop.  We ate at the resturant.  They have a full menu and a buffet.  We had the buffet.  It was $13.50 for all you can eat.  Typical buffet food.  It still amazes me how much stuff one can buy for their trucks.

Bump for an old thread but I have eaten many lunches at that very place. It's about 110 miles from my house. Seems right to me to go there for a sandwich or more. Looking forward to the same trip one day soon.
    Thanks for sharing.
