    Aux driving light mounting location

I searched, I promise! Not finding much info. Where are we mounting aux lights? Please don't say forks, as I'm not doing that, ever. I am just now disassembling the farings so that I can begin prepping my bike for LD rally work, and I need to buy some lights, but which ones I buy will be determined by where I can mount them.

Is there a police variant of the TTSE, that has light mount points? If so, can we buy those brackets? If anyone has links I"d appreciate it. I'd love to put some big-ass lights on it, but I haven't yet found a good mounting point.

    Thanks!

Dave, the plastic piece that forms the underside of the mirror housing is where I have mine mounted.  I put a short piece of metal strap on the inside as a support for the lights to hang down.

Ok, so I was just following the excellent instructions for fairing removal that Coconut posted, and I folded the mirrors out of the housings. The lower floor of the mirror housing seems pretty stout. What do we think about distributing the load with a large fender washer and hanging lights there? I wouldn't go crazy with the weight, and I know TDragger has some small ones there, but I figure someone else besides James has done this.

    Thoughts?

Haha, you beat me to the punch! Ya I saw yours and that is a great spot. I'd like a bigger light than those though, so I'm just wondering how much that spot can bear. Right now I'm searching for some light weight lighting alternatives.

The wound in my leg is very slowly improving. I'm acting as if I'm gonna make BLIX, but I'd say it's 50/50 at best right now. I have a a follow-up with the wound care specialist on Tuesday...hoping to get some help re: how to best speed the healing process.

Regarding the lights, I may go old school halogen this time around, to save weight. I can get big Hella halogen spots that have plastic housings (very low weight) to mount under the mirrors. The problem with hot rod LEDs is that they require hot rod heat sinks, and hot rod heat sinks are heavy. I'm also considering adding an LED light bar under the headlight...nice spot for that there. We'll see.

dietDrThunder, if you go to page 12 in this section, then down to After Market Spot Lights by Lesco you will find a reply from SAAZ [sadly no longer with us], a very good description for mounting Clearwater Erica's under the mirrors. He has a link to an American [Pete] with very good photos of doing this arrangement. All the best.  :821: :158:
