Glove box closed and electrical latch not working
« on: June 17, 2018, 09:49:44 PM »
Accidentally closed the door on the left hand side glove box and the electrical for the latch solenoid is not connected.  Consequently can’t get at the screw to remove the glove box to fix the electrical.  Any ideas on how to get the door open manually?

I had exactly the same myself a couple of weeks ago so I empathise with your dilemma.

Fortunately for me, it was due to an error my dealer made during the 40,000 service so I returned the bike to them.  It took the mechanic 15 minutes to get in.  I asked if there were an easy fix should it happen again and was told no!  I have always thought I do not really need the lid to have a locking latch that relies on electrical power as I keep nothing of value in there; I believe there is a thread to replace this lock with an insecure latch?

I suspect the mechanic tapped into the power to the switch somewhere in the wiring loom to 'jump' power to it.

Good luck.

SSSSHHHHH!  Don't tell anybody.  You can put enough pressure on it from the latch side to deform it just enough it will pop open.  Don't ask and I won't tell. :153:

Thanks!  Actually found that I could reach the plug and wire from the outside and jiggled it to get the solenoid to work.G

I'm not keen on this design either, even when it's all connected/working properly, the plastic button seems to bind against it's housing, making you think that the actual switch isn't working.
