Replacement headlight units (inside main body)

Has anyone tried fitting the following to their TT?

    https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2x-5-75-LED-headlight-Chrome-Triumph-Speed-Street-Triple-T509-955-Rocket-3/273244896544?fits=UKM_Make%3ATriumph%7CUKM_Model%3ATrophy%7CUKM_CCM%3A1215&hash=item3f9eaa3d20:g:2twAAOSwRQlbDmdd

The claim is that they are compatible, but is that just because they are the same size as the TT units, or can they actually be fitted without too much grief?

I haven't heard of anyone changing the complete Headlamp Unit,
    only trying different "Bulbs" ....

Be wary of anything on eBay that says "Compatible with ....",
    or "Fits ....." etc.

By way of example there are plenty of H7 Headlamp Bulbs on eBay
that are supposed to fit the Trophy SE 2012 on, even though
the actual Headlamp Bulbs are the H4 type, and H7's will NOT fit !

My 2007 RT used H7's and they would only last about 13000 miles.  I hear the same complaint on late model RT's
I just replaced my H4's at 37000 miles after one burned out.  I think the stock lighting on the Trophy is pretty good.

I also think the stock headlights on the Trophy are pretty good.  Better than most anything out there.  I did replace the bulbs with H4 Silverstars and they make a big improvement over what is already a good light.  I've also added aux lights as I do long distance scavenger hunts and night riding is necessary.  Haven't bit on the FLIR kit just yet.  I don't know if I want to know what's really out there.

Next service (in about 8000 km, so... 5000 miles) i'm gonna replace the stock h4 halogens with LED ones for the Iron Butt next year.

Careful with the led ones do a search on here.  Others have fitted them and some melted?  I have bought some but not yet fitted them.  They need a good air flow on the back to keep them cool.

I know that M@rcel uses the same on his trophy and those didn't melt. If they do, I assume the dealer will replace the headlight since they stand by their word that the LED's are great and are a OEM replacement.

Sounds good.  I think it was early ones that had the problems.  Good customer service is important.  :028:
