    Final Drive Failure

Well I just thought I would post this to add a data point to the universe. The final drive on my 2013 Trophy has failed. I just got done riding in the Buttlite 9 Rally putting a total of 6,100 miles on the bike (which ran perfectly btw) during the rally, plus 650 miles from my home to the start.

The bike only has 26,7xx miles on it so to say I’m disappointed is an understatement. I plan on purchasing a take off final drive from eBay and hopefully that one will last longer.

Shame on Triumph for making this final drive “non serviceable”.

Luckycharms. I have been following the Butt Light because of the Australian entrants whom I know. You said that your Trophy suffered final drive failure. What exactly failed. I/we would be very interested to know. All the best with your replacement. Cheers. :821: :158:

I was told it was the bearings. I will clarify next time I call.

I have an other bike with shaft drive.  Most folks have no trouble with it but a few have failed over the years.  Like my Honda I don't think this failure is a huge reason for concern.

Yikes, sorry to hear this,....out of interest, has the oil only been replaced once at the 500 mile mark or had it been changed regularly throughout it's life??

Sounds like we need to check oil.  Although some bikes have done a lot more miles I would not like it to happen to mine.

I'm only guessing/wondering, bearings etc can just fail even if oil is plenty & fresh.
