Zumo 595 and Basecamp custom route issue.

I recently upgraded from the Zumo 660 to the Zumo 595 and really enjoy all the new features. In my testing phase, I ran a custom route (of my usual joy ride) through Basecamp which uploaded successfully. As I traveled the route, the Zumo 595 kept recalculating to take me off the planned route even though the route preview showed the planned route. Has anybody else experience this? I have run numerous custom routes on the 660 and never had this issue.

:083:Are the settings in the zumo the same as in the previous zumo? Is the map material of the same version? Is route recalculation turned off?

Thanks ikkeman, recalculation is on automatic , I will turn it off and give it a try. Will the unit recalculate if I miss a turn or go off course, detour etc.

If you turn off recalculate and miss a turn, it is up to you to find the way back.

On another serious note about the latest Garmin map updates:  As many, many of us discovered during the most recent Butt Lite rally, don't just follow the magenta line blindly.

As Garmin has incorporated more and more state and county roads into their database, many of the smaller roads do not have a speed limit associated with them.  Garmin automatically assumes that they are 55 mph roads.  If you have "Faster Route" selected, the Garmin may route you off of a perfectly good highway onto a county road that eventually turns into a goat path.  If I can get to my graphics share, I have several examples of this scenario.

Below is just one such example.  Approaching a bonus in Shiloh National Military Park, both my Garmins (Zumo 660 and Dezl 770) tried to route me down the yellow line in the pic.  As you can see in the second pic, there is no such road.  According to county maps, there used to be a road there decades ago and it is still a legal right of way.  Garmin assumes that it is a 55 mph road.

This was a fairly benign example.  I was personally routed down some difficult to recover from routes.  One involved making a 20 point turn around on a steep gravel hill with my rear tire dipping into a river.

I already have anxiety about my routes when I go on trips, this would make that much, much worse. I plan the route well in advance because of that using non-Garmin software, but I can do that because I'm not on a rally or anything. :-)

    Good morning,
I just have one question regarding the Zumo 595. I now have a Zumo 660 and I'm thinking about replacing it with a 595. Does the 595 fit on the same mount as the 660 which is fixed just below the fairing on the Trophy? Or do I need to change the mount? :440:
    Thanks for your help.
