Here is my mod. I added Homelink to the bike, so there is no more need to fumble for the garage opener- its always there!. I started by purchasing a used device off of eBay. The unit is the type that is found in the sun visor in most Japanese cars. Obviously, I purchased black to blend in better, but a variety of colors are available should you desire.
I removed the battery cover panel from the bike, marked up where my holes needed to be, a quick drill of those holes and assembly is almost compete. Obviously, the panel thickness is greater than that of the fabric/foam of a visor, so I glued extensions on to the ends of the button posts. A smooth bead of black RTV silicone sealed and secured the buttons and trim plate to the exterior portion of the battery cover. Connect the leads of the unit to the battery- conveniently located mere inches from the unit, and program. Which, by the way, is easy to do if you follow the instructions included with the Homelink unit.
