New at this but not new at much else..

The deal is done. Waiting on the dealer to get a title so I can pick it up. I've been lurking for some time trying to decide if this was the direction I wanted to go. I had a sport touring bike before my present ride and after a year and change away, decided I miss that type of bike. I found a 17 model with only a few thousand miles and bought it so I can say that I am officially in now. I've been aware of and seen a few Triumphs over the decades of riding but never once threw a leg over one. Reading many reviews and articles this seemed like what I wanted. I am hoping to retire in a year or so and looking forward to some long trips on it. Currently most of my riding is a commute everyday with only weekends thrown in on occasion. I am in north east Texas on a work assignment and hope to make a few gatherings if I can to meet up with some of the other esteemed and august members of this group.

I am hoping so. I think I did my due diligence in making a decision to buy one but that said, I have not ever ran across anyone that owned one so I made my choice based upon the reports and reviews of others. I have done far crazier things.

I ONLY FOUND OUT THAT TRIUMPH WAS MAKING THIS BIG TRIPLE BY ACCIDENT ABOUT A YEAR & A HALF AGO .  THEN, LIKE YOU, I READ EVERYTHING I COULD FIND AND WATCHED EVERY YOU TUBE ON THEM.  I GOT TO SIT ON ONE IN 2017 AT A BIKE SHOW AND THAT WAS WHEN DISAPOINTMENT SET IN, IT WAS TOO TALL FOR MY SHORT LEGS. THEN I FOUND OUT THEY HAD A LOWERING LINK FOR IT LIKE MY BUDDIES 07' MULTI STRADA. THAT SAVED THE DAY!  NEVER MET ONE ON THE ROAD OUT RIDING. SOMETIMES YOU JUST HAVE TO JUMP IN THE DEEP END AND LET NATURE TAKE IT'S COURSE.

I casually knew about them but had a MG Norge and was happy with it so I didn't really look at them. When I started looking at the Trophy, the height was a concern of mine also. I'm 5'11" but just didn't want a bike that I had to climb up on to ride. I sat on it a week ago and was pleasantly surprised. Wasn't any higher than the Guzzi I think through my unscientific and uncalibrated butt feelings. That aside, I did the jump and am really looking forward to the ride. I doubt that I will see any more than I did before but somebody has to bring the first one to a group.

I FOUND A 2015' THIS PAST JANUARY WHEN WE FIRST STARTED LOOKING IN FLORIDA FOR A BIKE TO GET AROUND WHILE WE WERE THERE. THE GUY DIDN'T KNOW BIKES THAT RAN THE SALES END OF THINGS FOR A USED CAR DEALERSHIP THAT TOOK ANYTHING IN TRADE.  I GOT HIM TO LET ME FIND THE MANUAL AND RE-ADJUST THE SEAT TO THE LOWER POSITION AND VOILA, I COULD STAND AND HOLD IT UP WITH MY 5'9" 29" INSEAMED FRAME AND MY GIRLFRIEND COULD CLIMB ON BOARD!  THAT ONE WAS 12,500 AND ONLY HAD 900 MILES ON IT, OUT OF OUR REALM OF EXPENSES. FOUND A 13' FOR 7700.00 BUT COULDN'T GET TO SEE IT THE OWNER WAS AWAY. MISSED ONE FOR 6995.00.  THE ONE THING IT DID DO FOR ME WAS PROVE THAT I COULD HOLD IT UP AND THAT I REALLY LIKE THE SOUND AND FEEL OF THE BIKE.  ANYTHING IS LIGHTER THAN AN LT!
