Shinko Verge 2X going on..

So far used stock Angel ST ( short life ), PR4 ( OK ), RoadSmart II's ( less OK ), Avon Storm ST XM ( best tires EVER, almost 11,000 miles, handled well up to the wear bars ).

But... Using Shinko's on my Africa Twin and very pleased with wear and performance.

Maybe apples to oranges, but decided to try a set of Shinko Verge 2X on the TTSE.

They are much less expensive than the Avons.. Much...   So worth a try...

Mounted and balanced them yesterday.  Raining, so no test ride yet..   

Will report as I ride them south to Arkansas this next week...

( By the By, I did try Avons on the Africa Twin, and the rear was down to the cords in 4600 miles!!!  So this could backfire on me.. (:> )

How many miles on your Trophy now?

I put the Verge on the front just prior to the Butt Lite rally this summer.  Ride and grip are good but a bit underwhelmed at the wear displayed.  I have about 6k on it now and hoping to survive a 3500 mile round trip next week.  I'm not entirely confident that it will make it so I have a contingency set up in St Louis for a new front if it needs it.

Just turned over 84,000 on Big Girl.  She's fresh as a daisy....

Virg's now have about 4500 miles on them.  Most of the mileage I'm happy to say was in the land of very twisty roads , ridden aggressively
First 3000 miles they handled very well, I was very pleased But slightly concerned with rear tire wear
After 3000 miles front handling started to deteriorate rapidly and evidenced some kuping on the side walls . I was a bit worried about rear tire wear as well As the center Cipes disappeared very quickly And The where bars Are Out or the side .
At about 3800 miles The front tire actually started to become frightening , it would let go in corners Skip sideways Turning in Never experienced that before. Front tire is into the where bars on the side wall , but not the center , also never experienced that either.
As far as I am concerned these tires are completely shot Giving me only about 4000 miles useful life for an $80 savings over the avons I had on it before Or one might say a huge mistake!
I am also positive there is nothing wrong with the mounting or balancing of the tires
Sorry the pictures are not better, TTSE is bedded down for the winter now, 88,225 miles on the clock

I like my Storm 3D X-M rear better than the Angel's or the Michelin before it (both of the previous tires' demise due to nasty flats that couldn't be repaired).
