Scottish Borders
« on: September 24, 2018, 05:06:02 PM »
Bank holiday Monday here, so went for a wee run. Glasgow to Biggar, to Peebles (coffee & a bun), to Galashiels, to Edinburgh and back home again. Some stunning scenery, Scotland is very green again after the rain we have had...Weather was good, between 11 to 14 degrees C, sun shining mostly, one 10 minute downpour of rain. Tunes were on, all 80's stuff  :017: , bike washed and put away again.... pic is from between Peebles & Galashiels.

Sounds lovely. 3 of us went up the west coast a couple of weeks ago and had a great time. 1st night in oban, 2nd in achnasheen, 3rd in bettyhill and the last in callender. Weather was a bit iffy on day, but great roads and scenery. Even saw another trophy up near the top.

@ 1675, we are really lucky with the scenery we have, I spent a long weekend near you touring about the lakes, and Yorkshire dales, amazing scenery.  Did you do the Duke's pass? Callander to Aberfoyle.... if you didn't it's a good excuse for another trip  :152:

Never managed the dukes pass, but it's on the list now! Got to applecross, which I had always wanted to see, but never got to skye as the ferries were cancelled due to weather. Next time.

Just returned from a trip to Black Forest and Munich. Brilliant roads and courteous drivers through Germany, but it was great to be back on Scottish soil, despite the cooler weather. And each week now the Autumn colours just get better, and the caravans/tour buses become less frequent.... I'm hooked - if only we can get the authorities to properly maintain the roads!
