Kind of funny!  I had cords suddenly appear at 8500 miles!
I am now running a Metzler 880 on the rear (in 200/55/17) as it is a more touring oriented tire.  Think I am around 5k miles on it now.  ZERO complaints in all weather conditions.  Hoping to get a safe 10k plus out of it.  I try to always swap them before I get to the wear bars.  They can go from ok to 'oh crap' super fast and I don't like being in that spot.

Are you guys actually talking about the OEM Angel ST tires?
I ran two sets of Angel GTs on my previous heavier, and higher horsepower BMW K1600GTL, and got over 10,000 miles out of each set.  :027:

The original Pirelli Angel tires fitted to the Trophy were ST's, not GT's.  My ST's would not have lasted nearly that long even if they hadn't succumbed to punctures.  My current rear Avon Storm 3D XM on the other hand has 9,000 miles on it currently with good tread left.

Yup. 8500 miles or very close to it with both ST's that I ran. Hence the Metzler Marathon. I think it even cost less.

Based on your glowing endorsement, I am going to order a set as soon as I can save some money.  :034:
It looks like I will be needing a new set by August.

Despite my previous success with Angel GTs, the only thing I wasn’t crazy about was the way the front tires would begin cupping at about 8k miles. I suspect that that heavy six cylinder engine on the GTL might have contributed, but based on what I have read about the Storms, I will give them a chance.

It doesn’t hurt that I have found them for a delivered price under $300 as well!  :028:

My front was a Michelin that I just changed to the Storm before the Arkansas trip, so I can't comment on the front specifically, but the rear has been great.

My 2016 Trophy managed 7500 miles on both front and rear. The rear was at end of life in fairness but the front still had some to go. I replaced both though just before setting off on a tour.

Big Paul, you'd have to be happy with that, 7,500 miles or 12,000 + kilometres. Cheers.  :152:
