    7500 mile two-up ride across America ....

Fay and I just got back from a trip around the country on the Trophy SE that started September 4 and ended October 1.

From Virginia, across West Virginia, Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, then west through Wisconsin, Minnesota, South Dakota, Wyoming, and into Montana where we spent 4 days riding, then down through Idaho, Wyoming, Utah, and Arizona.   When we hit the Grand Canyon, we pointed the front wheel back East and went through New Mexico, Oklahoma, Missouri, Kentucky, and back to Virginia.

Wore out the back tire and as a matter of fact got a flat, but thanks to the AMA breakdown service and Atlas Cycle, we were back on the road with a new tire in 3 hours.   On a Saturday afternoon!

I enjoyed the cruise control on the SE.   We didn't use the sound system, didn't carry a cell phone, didn't have a GPS or any of that stuff; all the route planning was with a Rand-McNally Road Atlas, and a paper route list made up and taped to the tank bag every evening.

I'll have a few pics once I clear up some space on this iMac of mine, it's full.   Great trip and the SE hummed like a sewing machine (a 132 horsepower sewing machine), Fay and I are still married (she's a pillion in a million) and we're already talking about the next trip .....

Sounds like a great ride. How did the Trophy do on gas mileage with two-up? Looking forward to some good pictures.

Lannis, you sound like a man with similar thoughts to myself. Paper maps with route notes on the tank bag, perfect. The only concession for night riding is I hang a small LED torch round my neck on a lanyard. Easy to pick up directions without stopping. I'm sure Fay and yourself had a great time. Cheers. :821: :158:
