    Quick Release Tank Bag Buckle

Anybody know the size of the buckle that is used on Trophy OEM Tank Bag -or- know where I can purchase one.  I'm thinking about purchasing a Cortech Super 2.0 12-Liter Strap Mounted Tank Bag or one that is similar.  I want a smaller size bag.

I thought that maybe I could add/replace the female buckle end on the "new" smaller tank bag with a buckle that fits my current OEM buckle (that the big OEM tank bag snaps to and is already installed on my bike).  Then whichever tank bag I choose to use, the male quick release buckle is already there to connect to.

    HI Renegade,

I have a small supply of the exact buckle that is needed  :169:

I have been making up replacement fitting kits, as shown here :

FOR SALE: Trophy Tank Bag Fitting Kit

I have run out of the metal retaining plates, and need to make some more,
but I can send you a new buckle ( Male and Female halves ) if you "PM" me with your address  :028:

    Cheers  :821:

I don't have any of the Retaining Plates,
or any sheet steel to make any at the moment.

I thought this rang a bell though ......

In a previous Post you enquired about the Rubber Pad saying,
"Purchased a second hand tank bag, it came with all fittings except the Self adhesive Pad."

    What happened ?

    Hi Coconut

Thanks for the quick response you are correct I did enquire earlier.

I purchased the bag from America and assumed everything was there except the pad as from experience i believed it would be impossible to remove intact once fixed and would therefore be missing.

That said and given that I had some free time and the given the likelihood that we may be able to travel abroad sometime in the near future I decided to fit the bag this weekend.

This is when i noticed that the retaining plate and screw were missing.

I have enquired with the person whom i purchased it from but he as advised me that it was also missing when he bought it second-hand and that he fitted the strap under the retaining plate for the tank cover which I am not sure is a good idea.

If you have the dimension I could try and get on fabricated

    Thank you for your time

    regards

    Paul

Not the best quality Technical Drawing,
but it should provide enough information
for anyone to make their own Retaining Plate :

I used 2.5mm mild steel sheet and gave it a couple of coats of Smooth Black Hammerite paint.

If making your own, remove the Tank Cover ( 2 bolts at the rear edge that are revealed
when the Rider seat is removed, and 2 longer bolts at the front between the handlebars ).

Flip it over and you will see the recess where the Retaining Plate fits,
and the hole for the retaining screw :

    Cheers  :821:

Same thing happened to me. Bought what was suppose to be a brand new tank bag and not knowing all the parts that were suppose to be included,  " Assumed" they were all there. Needless to say, I didn't try to install bags until a couple of months after purchase, by then, too late to return!

Anyways, came across 2 more " Brand new" bags from a dealer in another state and purchased both, knowing how hard they are to find and knowing that I could find buyers here on the forums and help other Trophy members with this hard to find accessory. Was charging only what I paid + shipping.

Anyways, sold one and am going to have a machinist friend make a buckle, buy webbing and clip online.
Will then have 2 "Brand New Complete" tank bag kits, one of which I'll sell.

Think some of these dealers are borrowing parts out of boxes from time to time! :192:
