    Triumph Trophy Film Protection Kit

    OK Y'all,

I've been trying to find one of these Triumph Trophy SE protection film kits for a few days now for my new 2017 TTSE (found them listed on dealership's websites and ordered, orders canceled one after the other because didn't really have one in stock: discontinued from Triumph like the model), and kept striking out until today.

I found a dealership (in the USA) that has two, and I already ordered/paid for one of them being shipped out tomorrow to me.  So, for anyone else who wants one of these rare protection kits for their TTSE, they have one left.

    Triumph Part Number: A9930245
    PAINT PROTECTION KIT $120.70
    Special Handling (shipping fee) $10.00
    Sales Tax $7.24
    Invoice Total $137.94 USD

Ask for Christopher Brown in Parts at Motorcycles of Dulles (VA)  www.motorcyclesofdulles.com

I didn't see it listed on their website, so better off calling.

    1-703-330-1200

Tell him Dave (from LIVERPOOL, NY) Sent you!!!

BTW - this was the best price I came across for it too!

After that last one sells out, check with thetankslapper.biz  They sell various film kits for bikes. I emailed him to ask if the Trophy listed was our generation and he replied:

It cover the span you have Rick 2012 - 17.

I looked at a used one at the local Ducati dealer a few weeks ago, if they still have it, I can use it to create more patterns for your model, if you interested.

    Thanks for your interest,
    Lucas

The kit he has available is only for the tank but starts at $15.95 but increases depending on the film selected.  I have a basic kit on my 2011 Suzuki Dl-650 since bought just after new and it's still going strong.  Above reply indicated he would be willing to make other patterns for other parts (I'd like front of side cases for example).  I may order the basic/cheap film and ask for samples of other materials to compare.  I doubt if I'd want the Matte finishes or to cover all the painted surfaces.

Didn't mean to thread crap but might be an option for folks, in the USA anyway.

    Rick

PS - I did see his order system only allows for old(er) years for this kit.  I hope it's a site issue and really does cover "our" years.

Looks like those Tank Slapper films are limited to only cover the gas tank of a bike, unlike the OEM Triumph Kits that cover more of the bike...

...but some people only want to protect the tank I guess, or TANK SLAPPER wouldn't be in business?

Correct as I stated above.  He did indicate if the bike was still available for measurements he would make other parts as requested.  I have to let him know his site only shows older years in teh drop-down order box so he can correct that.

On my previous Trophy I had several of the Panels protected with 3M Film.

    The ( UK ) Company I used was :

Tony James Designs ( Tony Hill )

Tony did a FANTASTIC job, covering many more Panels than the Triumph Kit,
and at a cheaper price ! - See below images.

I haven't spoken to Tony for a good while but I'm sure he will still have the Templates
that he made for my Trophy, so would be able to produce more if requited.

Whether he can ship to the US or not I don't know - but it might be worth asking !

If you do make contact with him, tell him I said "Hi" !

Photograph taken just after completion of the work,
( Polishing was included as part of the service  :152: ) :

The next picture shows the various panels that have been protected with the film :

    1 & 2     = Left & Right panniers ( Where your boots scrape + Leading edge protected against stone chips ! )
    3 & 4     = Left & Right fuel tank sides ( Where your legs rub ! )
    5 & 6     = Left & Right Upper Fairing
    7 & 8     = Left & Right Centre Fairing
    9 & 10   = Left & Right fuel tank leading edges
    11 & 12 = Left & Right Lower Fairing
    13 & 14 = Left & Right underbelly pan
    15 & 16 = Left & Right fork covers
    17         = Mudguard ( Fender  :038: )

The lower fairing and underbelly pan pieces could have been made as one piece,
but Tony recommended splitting these as the underbelly pan piece is the most likely
of all to get damaged over time ( being the closest to the road surface ),
making it a cheaper and simpler task to replace just that smaller piece if ever needed - top bloke  :047:

If you could please ask Tony what the cost would be to replicate the kit and send it to The Netherlands I would be much obliged.
